America’s Home for Racing will be America’s Home for Educating when the speedway’s annual STEAM Expo returns on Friday, Oct. 7 to kick off an action-packed weekend culminating with the fifth running of the Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 on Sunday, Oct. 9.
An effort to educate participants about all things science, technology, engineering, arts and math as they relate to motorsports, the STEAM Expo will bring together more than 1,500 students, teachers and parents from across North and South Carolina for a day of hands-on, interactive fun. Pre-registration for the event is required and only a few spaces remain. Click here to register.
Nearly 50 different vendors will participate in the event, including the NASCAR Hall of Fame, UNC Charlotte’s Chemistry Club, G-Force Robotics and iFly Charlotte, offering hands-on learning and activities throughout the morning. Additionally, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Ryan Vargas and up-and-coming racer Isabella Robusto will be on hand to share their perspective as drivers.
STEAM Expo participants will also have the chance to ride a 90-foot Ferris Wheel, test their skills on racing simulators in the Toyota Racing display, tour Lug Nut’s Garage in the Bank of America footprint and so much more.
“It’s always fun to see children light up as they learn about how science, technology, engineering and math play such a pivotal role in motorsports,” said Greg Walter, executive vice president and general manager at Charlotte Motor Speedway. “Having them here for the STEAM Expo as we kick off a huge race weekend really drives home all of the different avenues that exist for careers in the racing industry. These students are the future of motorsport, and the future is bright.”
The STEAM EXPO runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 in the fan zone.
