NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie and 2014 NASCAR XFINITY Series champion Chase Elliott joined hundreds of fans in the infield prior to the Bank of America 500 for Chase University, a fun, new event for college students visiting Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Designed to attract college-aged fans into the sport, Chase University included an appearance from Elliott as well as tailgating games, music and food.
In talking about his involvement, the 20-year-old Elliott noted he thought this would be something enjoyable for younger fans.
"I want to do this and have some kind of set up at the track where fans can have a good time," Elliott said. "I guess that was the big thing, to just come and have fun for a low price ($24, to match Elliott's car number). I want to promote this to college students. I have a bunch of friends who are in school. That's something I can kind of relate to. I hope they enjoy the time."
