Revving up the excitement for the 2024 Bank of America ROVAL™ 400, NBC’s The Voice finalist Josh Sanders will hit the stage to perform the national anthem on Sunday, Oct. 13, before NASCAR’s best hit the track for a critical Playoff cutoff race.
A native of nearby Kannapolis, N.C., Sanders was a fan-favorite in NBC’s Season 25 The Voice, where he captivated audiences nationwide while being coached by the “Queen of Country,” Reba McEntire. Sanders showcased his powerful voice throughout the season with renditions of Luke Combs’ “When it Rains it Pours,” Corey Kent’s “Wild as Her” and The Doobie Brothers’ “Black Water,” among others. Pairing up with McEntire in a season finale, their performance cemented Sander’s loyal fan base as social media blew up raving about the duet of “Back to God.”
“The Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 has always been something of a homecoming weekend for NASCAR, so it’s only fitting that we welcome home one of our own rising music stars for the anthem,” said Charlotte Motor Speedway President and General Manager Greg Walter. “Josh is an amazing talent and he’ll bring that hometown flair to NASCAR’s Wildcard Weekend here at America’s Home for Racing.”
Raised in nearby Kannapolis, NC, Sanders started playing bass guitar as a child in the church band. In his teens and early 20s, he played in several rock bands on Rock Legends cruise ships and numerous stages up and down the East Coast before settling down with his wife Kendra and starting a family.
Following a phenomenal run on The Voice, the 36-year-old Sanders has taken to stages up and down the East Coast, showcasing his singing talents to legions of fans. With stops at the Carolina Country Music Fest and The Cannon Ballers, Sanders will hit one of the biggest stages yet as he kicks off an action-packed evening of road-course racing.
"Growing up just down the road from the speedway, I know how big a deal it is when NASCAR comes to town,” Sanders said. “This is a huge honor for me, to be able to return home and have the opportunity to perform at such an iconic event.”
This year's Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 unveils the newly reconfigured 17-turn, 2.28-mile ROVAL™, intended to provide additional passing opportunities for drivers. The competition will heat up as this year’s ROVAL™ will highlight the final contest in the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.
