Chad Reed's journey to motocross prominence has taken the 34-year-old star throughout the globe, but Reed will have a new stop on his map when the Australian-born, naturalized U.S. citizen takes on MXGP's elite, like France's Romain Febvre, the defending MXGP world champion, at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in the captivating Monster Energy MXGP of the Americas on Sept. 2-3.
Reed - one of the most popular motocross riders in the United States - has competed at the country's top level for more than a decade. He's made two MXGP starts this season, at Matterley Basin in the United Kingdon and at Mantua in Italy, but Reed's accomplishments in international motocross extend beyond the recent past. He also finished second in the 2001 MXGP championship, and is keen on doing well in front of an American crowd.
Romain Febvre, who captured the 2015 MXGP crown, is a 24-year-old Frenchman who has only begun to scrape the surface of his considerable potential. The defending MXGP champion won 13 races on his way to the title in the sport's highest level, and he did it as a newcomer. Febvre finished third in the 2014 MX2 championship, the second-highest rung of the international ladder, but second or third doesn't sit well with the rising superstar.
The battle between Reed and Febvre promises to be one of many contested over two days around the challenging one-mile SuperCourse at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. The full-throttle action doesn't stop on Saturday, either.
Just announced, dirt bike enthusiasts who buy a two-day MXGP ticket for $69 plus tax receive a FREE Sunday Ride Day voucher that grants them riding access to the MXGP SuperCourse. A limited number of ride vouchers are available, so riders looking to secure their spot on the same stretch of dirt occupied by Reed and Febvre should lock in their spot by calling 1-800-455-FANS (3267) or by visiting http://www.charlottemotorspeedway.com/tickets/mxgp/.
During the Ride Day, riders will be divided into groups based on age, rider ability and engine displacement. Riders must be five years old or older, and riders ages 17 and under must follow minor waiver policies found at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com/waivers.
Additionally, guests, crew and family members can attend the Ride Day for $5. No advance sales will be available for Ride Day guests. Riders can direct additional Ride Day questions to the Charlotte Motor Speedway events department at (704) 455-3205.
