Each year the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals brings together dirt racing fans from around the world to crown the champions in the top three series in the sport, the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Big-Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar series. Thousands of diehard fans will pack The Dirt Track at Charlotte Nov. 5-7 to watch their favorite drivers do battle under the lights of the four-tenths-mile clay oval to close out the 2015 season. For some, those favorites include a couple of local and-and-comers on the dirt track scene.

Chris "Fergy" Ferguson, 25, of Mount Holly, North Carolina has won more than a dozen big races in 2015, including two in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. "Fergy-Time," as he's known to his friends, has truly become a force in the world of dirt late model racing across the southeast.  Ferguson's family-owned team includes his brother/crew chief Brandon, and the two have developed a knack for speed, setting fast time and breaking track records at many events in the past two seasons. 

Ferguson began his racing career in 2003, racing and winning championships in high-powered go-karts. By 2009, Ferguson graduated to full-bodied Late Model race cars, where he once again captured poles, wins and championships. The 2015 season has been a breakout year for the talented wheelman from Mount Holly, putting him on the national stage and in the minds of the fans from coast-to-coast. On Nov. 6 and 7, Ferguson will have his best chance ever to let the world know that "Fergy-Time" is now.   

But Ferguson isn't the only Carolina racer making waves next weekend. Mooresville, North Carolina native Max McLaughlin, 15, will make his World Finals debut in a big-block modified car in the Super DIRTcar series. His father, Mike "Magic Shoes" McLaughlin, won the 1988 NASCAR Modified national title and was the NASCAR Busch Series Most Popular Driver in 1997.

Determined to fill his father's "magic" shoes, McLaughlin first got into a race car at the age of three, but did not compete in his first race until he was 11. In 2014, he started racing in UMP Modified competition. With one season under his belt, McLaughlin surged into 2015 with his eye on the checkered flag. He currently has 12 wins and 16 No. 1 qualifiers. With the support of sponsors like Bad Boy Buggies, it's safe to say fans have not seen the last of "Mad Max."

The three-day event at The Dirt Track at Charlotte kicks off on Thursday, Nov. 5, with practice and qualifying for all three series. The sprint cars and late models will each have two time trial sessions, with the first round determining lineups for Friday night and the second round setting the Saturday night card. The big-block modifieds will set heat race lineups with timed hot laps. Thursday night's heat races will determine Friday and Saturday A-feature lineups.

Three-day packages are available for $89 (plus tax) for adults and $34 for kids 13 and under. Single-day tickets are $25 (plus tax) for adults on Thursday and $44 (plus tax) for Friday and Saturday.
