In a night filled with electrifying stunts, and two-wheeled tricks, the youngest driver in the field, Jon Zimmer Jr. in his Terminal Velocity machine emerged victorious over nine other Monster Trucks, including his own father at the Cook Out Monster Truck Bash.
Taking on the longest and most diabolical course in the U.S., Zimmer Jr. topped last year's winner Dalton Widner in his Jurassic Attack for the final round of battle as Widner made a nose-dive into a school bus on his 70-foot leap attempt.
“This is an absolute dream come true. I finally got to come out here in my own truck and I had to do one thing and one thing only, and that leaves it on the track.” Zimmer Jr. said. “I’ve known Dalton [Widner] since I was about 14 years old, we both brought it tonight and ran our trucks as fast as we could, just gave it our all.”
Using what was left of the track, John Gordon, Bad Company, navigated through the carnage to claim the freestyle trophy. From smashing through buses to losing his own windshield in the fight, Bad Company found his way to Victory Lane.
“I have a great team behind me and we do this all for the fans,” Gordon said. “We’re here to put on a show and that’s exactly what we did.”
In the best trick category, Tim Jones in the Tailgator truck put on a truly breathtaking performance for the crowd with his bus-crushing wheelies and nose-stand moonwalks. Leaving fans in awe, Tailgator earned 16 points to take home the Best Trick trophy.
