We attended a STEAM field trip here with my child's 5th grade class! It was awesome!!! The staff was great and the content was right on target with what they were learning! The bonus was banking around the race track to end a great trip!
One of the best incorporations of math that I've seen in a STEAM program.
The STEAM program at Charlotte Motor Speedway is hands-down one of the best STEAM field trips in North Carolina. The strong correlation of NASCAR technology, relevant mathematics and fun make this an absolute must for a class or individual learner studying force and motion or wanting to broaden their STEAM knowledge. I waited a year to get my student into this program and drove six hours round trip to attend. I would gladly do it again and recommend it to anyone. I can't wait for the Expo!
As founder and director of School of the Minds, a homeschool co-op focused on gifted alternative education, our families participate in many field trips in the Carolinas. We participated in Charlotte Motor Speedway's STEAM program this past January 2019 and found it to be one of our favorite educational opportunities in the area. The teachers were well prepared with their lessons, very organized, and knowledgeable. This is not a simple nor a superficial tour of CMS, rather a very educational, academic, and very fun field trip for students to explore the STEAM possibilities in the auto racing industry. Classes included acceleration, weight & balance, traction, RC cars, and friction. These were a mix of math, science, and fun hands-on activities. Our homeschool students ranged from K to 9th grade and the teachers had no problem getting their attention and encourage discussion and participation. Thank you CMS STEAM teachers
Please know that we are so thankful for your STEAM program. Our students were engaged and your instructors were awesome. They were knowledgeable and treated our students great. Every class was interesting and the students are still talking about what they learned. Please thank your drivers for an amazing riding experience around the track. The teachers were as thrilled as the students. Your staff is great and the program was exceptional. We hope to come again next year with a new group of 5th graders. I just wanted you to know again how much of a great time we all had today! All the kids, staff, and chaperones enjoy it and bragged about it! I truly think this is one of the best field trips I have ever been on. It was so organized and engaging! I will definitely recommend it to my colleagues! Thank you and your staff for all you did for us! It was a wonderful time! The van ride rocked also :)
